SYMPHONYCAST

Thursday nights at 9:00 PM, WCLV airs SymphonyCast, a weekly two-hour program featuring concerts by major orchestras, including selected programs by The Cleveland Orchestra.

Produced and distributed by American Public Media from St. Paul, each week's SymphonyCast
presents a full-length concert by a national or international symphony orchestra. Concerts are drawn from Europe's leading ensemble, along with U.S. orchestras including The Cleveland Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra. The Cleveland Orchestra concerts will appear on SymphonyCast six or seven times in the course of a year. These will all be concerts that are first broadcast locally on WCLV as part of the station's two weekly concert series, Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 4:00 PM.

WCLV, which produces and distributes an annual 26 week series of national Cleveland Orchestra broadcasts, is helping produce the Cleveland concerts heard on SymphonyCast .

SymphonyCast long time host, Brain Newhouse, has retired from the show due to his
elevation as director in charge of all of American Public Media's classical programming.
Replacing Brian is Alison Young, who also  hosts weekday mornings on Classical Minnesota
Public Radio. She also hosts Classical MPR's Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra broadcasts
and American Public Media's annual St. Olaf Christmas Festival.

Before her career in radio, she enjoyed a successful career as a concert flutist. While
an illness cut her performing career short, she made a vibrant artistic transition, making the
natural move to broadcasting, becoming a host and producer.
